Michael and Garrett grew up on opposite sides of the track, musically speaking. While Garrett spent high school upstate, jamming in basements and garages to reggae, 70's glam, and Appalachian country, Michael did the rounds at house parties and LI rock clubs, influenced by the likes of R.E.M., Rage Against the Machine, and Bayside. Both songwriters from the start, Michael headed in the direction of music production, studying under such notables as Peter Denenberg, whose production credits include Spin Doctors - Two Princes, at Purchase College; Garrett took a more lyrical direction, eventually receiving his MFA in Poetry from Manhattanville College. They finally crossed paths as members of a New Wave, neo-80s band. Both fans of smart writing and infectious choral hooks, they combined their respective powers and struck out in their own musical direction, crafting modern pop for the post-modern world.
